As part of our continued growth, the opportunity has arisen for a Senior Site Technician based in Birmingham.

General Duties:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, presentation, and security of the school building and site.
  • Management of team members – organising work rotas to cover the clients’ requirements for core business hours – along with some weekend cover for access and egress.
  • First point of contact for school staff escalation. Attend regular site client meetings to discuss school operations and requirements.
  • To assess team training and upskilling, advising the RFM on training needs.
  • Monitor and manage internal/external PPMs via Concerto
  • Open and close premises to meet the requirements of the building users.
  • First point of contact for the client regarding site issues/ tasks/reactive jobs.
  • Responsible key holder, attend the site in emergencies, take appropriate action in the case of break-in, theft or fire, including arranging boarding up of broken windows and doors and re-setting alarms. (Following notification from Cava Guard Security)
  • Manage and monitor contractors on site and inform the Regional Facilities Manager of any issues.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of the site in order to provide a safe, secure and healthy environment for pupils, staff, parents, visitors and other users.
  • Maintain general areas of the building (signage and appearance of the building) including external entrance and car park.
  • Carry out any routine and planned maintenance tasks including health and safety checks of the building.
  • Ensure all assigned PPMs and remedial works are completed within rectification periods.
  • Ensure measurable KPI faults are completed on time.
  • Ensure necessary paperwork is in place i.e. Method statements, Risk Assessment, Permits, COSHH etc.
  • Hands-on assistance when required to carrying out re-lamping, school requests, exam set ups etc. and other manual labour.
  • Assess any faults or damage and prioritise any works to be carried out, in consultation with the Regional Facilities Manager.
  • Operate the building energy systems to specified standards ensuring conservation measures are taken.
  • Carry out Porterage duties including room setups, deliveries and any other duties which may arise.
  • Ensure smooth handover to external lettings provider including checking facilities in preparation for the start of the school day.
  • Perform occasional non-routine cleaning tasks such as spillages where necessary.
  • Ensure that all external areas, including school playgrounds/car parks are cleaned and maintained, including removing leaves, surface weeds, litter and other debris.
  • Ensure that external paths, steps and entrances are clear of debris, snow, water, leaves or other hazards and that the site and grounds are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring health and safety standards are met and ensuring compliance in line with legislative and company health and safety requirements.
  • Assist in undertaking health and safety risk assessments on the premises, making appropriate recommendations for change or improvements to the Regional Facilities Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate records, manual and digital, for all maintenance and repairs, ordering of stock and equipment on the site.
  • Work occasional overtime to cover the duties of the other caretaker due to sickness, holidays etc.
  • Comply with all Bellrock policies and procedures at all times.

Skills / Experience:

  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Basic Electrical/Gas/Plumbing & Fabric repair skills desired.
  • Demonstrate excellent levels of customer service.
  • Team leading essential
  • Excellent timekeeping and reliability are essential.
  • Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and act as the first point of contact on a wide range of issues involved in the running of the building.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Flexible approach to working hours which include early mornings, late evenings and possibly weekends.
  • Full Driving Licence essential
  • Enhanced DBS – essential for the role.

Conduct & Appearance:

Will be required to wear the company uniform whilst on shift with an identity badge clearly visible. Will be expected to observe all the site’s procedures and to be polite and courteous at all times to staff, parents, contractors and other building users.
In return Bellrock are offering a competitive salary Circa of £25,000 per year. Working hours are Monday – Friday based on 37.5 hours per week and 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays.
