The opportunity has arisen for the Service Charge Consultant to join our Technical and Real Estate department. Within the Technical and Real Estate Division of the Group is the UK’s leading service charge consultancy in the retail, leisure, office and industrial sectors.

This position is linked to either the Bedford or Leicester office, which are home to experienced teams undertaking service charge consultancy on behalf of occupiers principally within the retail and leisure space.  The client base is predominantly blue-chip, advising many of the UK’s leading retailers and leisure companies.

The Role:

This “hands on” role requires the successful applicant to be directly involved in the administration and management of substantial service charge portfolio for at least one of our blue-chip clients.

The Person / Experience:

Experienced in the world of commercial service charges, the successful candidate will already have gained some knowledge, if not ideally some considerable knowledge, in this specialist and highly contentious sector, preferably from an occupier’s perspective.  They will therefore already be well versed in communicating directly with landlords and their managing agents, plus must similarly have a good awareness of, if not be highly competent in, how to appropriately deal with clients, solicitors as well as a range of technical experts.

The successful individual will naturally be experienced, if not highly experienced, in undertaking a forensic review of the relevant lease or other contractual terms and be similarly capable of forensically analysing any service charge budgets, reconciliations or other relevant information to draw out the pertinent issues.  Ideally tactically aware, the successful applicant will be able to clearly advocate the position by communicating the issues effectively and appropriately, with a view to minimising our clients’ liability and maximising the savings opportunity.

The successful candidate will therefore already possess a:

  • Good commercial awareness, with strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Keen eye for detail, with an analytical and inquisitive mind
  • Flexible approach and the ability to work to deadlines
  • High level of numeracy and literacy
  • Good computer literacy (with a good knowledge of Excel being particularly desirable).

From time to time, the successful applicant may, and dependent on experience, will be expected to attend meetings throughout mainland UK (and potentially Ireland).

In return Bellrock are offering a competitive salary. Working hours are Monday – Friday based on 37.5 hours per week and 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays.
