The opportunity has arisen for the Domestic Assistant to join our team based in West Berkshire Hospital, Newbury. Domestic services staff work in clinical and non-clinical areas.  They have a very important role in making sure that all areas are clean and safe places where staff can care for patients.

Key Accountabillities:

As a Domestic Assistant you will carry out the cleaning.  This could include:

  • Dusting
  • Using spray cleaners
  • Cleaning hard floors with mops or electric floor cleaners
  • Using vacuum cleaners or carpet cleaners
  • Cleaning toilet and bathroom areas

You’ll do the routine cleaning which needs to be done on a daily or weekly basis as well as emergencies such as spills.  You may also carry out regular, planned deep cleaning on a monthly or annual basis.

Who will I work with?

Cleaners and domestic services assistants are likely to have a lot of contact with patients, depending on where they work.  Evening cleaners will likely work on their own but have contact with the cleaning supervisor or team leader.

Entry Requirements:

There are no set entry requirements for domestic services assistants.  We expect a good standard of numeracy and literacy but above all relevant experience is important but not essential as full training will be given.

  • Follow instructions and procedures
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Work as part of a team
  • Take responsibility for their own work
  • Be able to work unsupervised
  • Organisation skills
  • Teamwork skills
In return Bellrock are offering a competitive salary Circa of £8107.84per year. Working hours are Saturday and Sunday based on 10  hours per week and 20 days holiday per year + bank holidays.
